Life at the Corner
Dear Friends – we often think and feel that our life is mostly about what has been and what will be.
However, this particular philosophy or thesis may be missing the point?
The point being that our life might just be happening right at that still point, that small corner between the past and the future. Take a meaningful pause in the present and breath-in and read-in my poem!

LIFE AT THE CORNER
It seemed to many of us; most of us; all of us;
That life was passing us by;
Happening already;
Somewhere, elsewhere!
Yet we forgot to notice that life was always happening;
Down there at the corner; that small, short angular corner;
Between the boulevard of the past
And the fast-moving freeway of the future!
That tiny, tucked away corner, that was the junction of the past and the future;
That point of preference for the mindful amongst us;
That place of position and perch for the pregnant prize of the present.
A corner between the highways and byways; of the has been and the might be!
Take up a position, establish a point of place;
A corner shop, a corner store, a corner café; a place of rest and knowing;
Between the journey of the ‘come from’ and the progressive passage of the ‘go to’!
That still point of space and place; of just here and just now; of just this and just knowing!
A respite and retreat;
A refresh and relief.
A relax and revive before the journey
Ever continues onward again.
May we all find that comforting corner of the present;
Between the passage from past and the progress to the future;
To pause and pant; to stop and be still; to rest and to be;
And maybe to realise that this little life of ours is always and only ever at the corner.
