Comments from our last Urban Retreat and Weekly Meditation Group …..
On Saturday 27 June a one day workshop entitled ‘Stress Less Live More Love Life’ was led by John at 14 Ridge Street, encouraging participants to consciously let go of wasting time on stress, by not identifying with the ego, by transcending the ego, and living in the ‘just now’. The workshop, including several specially guided meditations, was very well received.
I thought I’d do one for the paramitas course too (but don’t worry if you don’t need it) :
From May to July the Thursday morning meditation group was led by John (and in his absence by Stephen Mayers) in considering the ten psycho-spiritual core values of the Buddhist tradition : generosity, morality, relinquishment, wisdom, effort, patience, honesty, commitment, kindness and equanimity. The course was designed for participants to journal their experience of the course in the specially designed 50-page workbook assembled by John giving unique insights into the ten paramitas as they are known in Pali. The course emphasised that the ancient wisdom traditional values can be positively applied to enhancing our lives and resolving difficult situations.
