MORE IN OUR NATURE
Dear Friends
We now find ourselves Mid -Winter as we work our way through this year.
Throughout the world the weather and climate continues to be both surprising and challenging, reminding us to be attentive to both Nature and the Natural Environment.
Recently I spent a weekend in Nature at Bodhi Tree Forest Monastery at Tullera near Lismore.
During this weekend I was involved in a Well-Being in Nature Day, for Health and Helping Professionals. Both Venerable Pannyavaro and myself spoke to participants about the importance of spending time in Nature, particularly in the forest, to help calm and ground our selves.
Nature has a special way of calling us to that which is more perennial and beyond the issues and concerns of our personal lives. Spending time in Nature, is both therapeutic and insightful as we get to sense, see and feel things in a different way.
While Winter remains try to spend some time in Nature, connecting and coming to our senses and appreciating this cooler calmer time of year.
My verse below was inspired by my time in Nature.
Kind Regards
John B.
MORE IN OUR NATURE
When we can be more in Nature;
We can be more in our Nature;
Not caught up in the mental,
I making, my making, me making and mine making!
The ego-I is mostly made;
Through thoughts of the has been,
Or thoughts about the might be;
Never not now!
Nature calls us to our senses;
So we can make more of our senses;
And truly come to our senses;
Both literally and metaphorically.
Here – Now – Knowing;
The fundamental fabric of experience;
Always flowing;
Like the same River but always different!
